I live in the townhouses on Quail Circle. I had to run my shower water today for 15 minutes to get the rotten smell out! Absurd! Happens all the time.. each bathroom & the kitchen. I've been living in the area since 2013, bought my townhouse 1-1/2 yr ago. Previously Virginia, Raleigh, Asheville. Never have I experienced water issues like this!  No one should leave for the weekend & come home to black toilet rings AND pay $85/mo for one person! Ridiculous!

I'm one of those new home owners who got blind side by this SGWASA water issue. The agent and sellers did not disclose any of this. This was illegal and I'm addressing in another forum but it seems there may be some misuse of funds because things aren't adding up and we are paying the costs. The state should be notified in writing with a request for an investigation. Let's get things cleaned up. I love this area, but we need to keep it safe and clean.

I have moved from Atlanta and the water bill for the first 2000 gals was roughly 35$ and that included the sewer. Every 1000 gals over the 2k gals was additional 15$. Also, with an older folks over 55, should get some type of discount due to retirement income does not go up as we age to match other hike rates such as cable, electricity, food, mortgage, and etc.....

As a long-time member of Creedmoor, I remember since moving here being told to not drink the water. It is deplorable that as we are stuck drinking toxic water while employees there are getting raises. The water is unsafe to drink and this is proven with multiples notices sent out. The water stinks terribly and tastes terrible. I had to spend my earned money on a filtration system and continue to have to pay for a product that is defective and unusable. However I don’t have the ability to move right now.

We are also new to the area and new to having to pay for water, as we have always had a well. It is unfathomable to me that we have to pay for bottled water because the city water that we also have to pay for is not safe to drink. It is also hard to imagine how we are required to pay for such a dilapidated, antiquated system. Would you pay for a rental car that was broken down and unusable? Would you pay for a hotel room that was dirty? Would you pay for groceries that were past the "Use by" date? There is no other scenario that I can imagine wherein the general public is forced to pay for something that is far below standard, and yet these people just received raises?? From research we've been doing, cancer rates appear to be exponentially higher in our county than all others. So we're paying to get sick? Does SGWASA not see the future lawsuits here? Seems not when the rate has gone up since we've moved here rather than down, employees are receiving raises and nothing is being done to improve water quality~ Wish we had known before we bought. Love the neighborhood and all of our neighbors, but water is somewhat important to life.

It is ridiculous that we have to pay for supposedly clean water when it smells rotten and isn’t drinkable. We waste too much money on bottled water.

I am having to have a second cat, age 7, put to sleep as soon as the snow lets up due to kidney failure. My son says it is the nasty water.....not sure but water stinks, cannot drink it, cannot cook with it and yet they are building several new subdivisions and I would love to know how they plan to provide them water...clean, safe water. Maybe we need to let the people moving into the new neighborhoods what the water situation is and when they do not purchase the new homes perhaps something will be done! Frank, can we contact the TV stations in Raleigh and start getting our voices heard in Raleigh? How about our representatives??? I cannot imagine how much I have spent on bottled water and lost 2 precious cats who drank it. Can we impeach him???? I would like to see the television coverage I believe has been done on them.   Love to know what has been done and is being done. And I agree, people moving to this area have the right to know the serious, dangerous, deadly water problems here.   Sure wish someone had told me this before I moved here 14 years ago. Thanks for sharing any news media coverage and please let me know how to help in this fight for clean, healthy water for our area.

Executive Director, Linsay Mize, should be removed, I don’t care if he makes a 3 figure income, he’s not worth it. Tired of my plumbing, my washing machine smelling of sewer or sulfur, tired of my toilets becoming dirt tinged and stained less than 12 hours after cleaning. We need a change....it make no sense on why the WTP has been essentially left to rot at our expense while some no good gets paid to “manage” it. What steps do we need to take next? How can we get the entire SGWASA coverage area singing this same tune?

Sharon Padula – 1/22/2018 – Southerby

I agree with all of the above. Unfortunately I did not realize the actual problem with the water before I moved here in June 2015. This information has to be kept under the rug and I’ll bet potential residents have no idea how critical this situation is. I’ve lived in many different states and multiple locations within NC. I’ve never seen such sickening water anywhere. How can these new Subdivisions be approved when this water system isn’t good enough for existing residents? How do you even justify the extremely high rates on top of the toxicity levels that are horrifying? It’s time for something to be done...NOW. Oust this person who has been executive director all these years and has done absolutely nothing to even begin to solve the problems. When you don’t do your job and let things go downhill to this degree, most people do get fired. Well?? People’s lives are affected here. Do we need to contact the State government? Do we Citizens need to form a committee? If so I’m interested in assisting. Do we need a petition?? Thank you

We need to know what to do!! No one said anything about the water when my mom moved to Creedmoor 2 years ago. This is disgusting. 2/18/2018 -- -- I would ask if THEY, SGWASA, would like to drink the nasty tasting and smelling water or bathe in it?? It's not up for discussion, if you ask me. JUST FIX IT!! Thank you

It is good that hopefully that someone of some political influence may be able to move the process of the oversight for the water treatment to a more responsible position. It is good that this report seems to be unbiased because all mechanical and electrical devices that have what is called the MTBF, (mean time between failure), are out of their life cycle is discussed correctly.

I don't won't to be prejudice towards the people that have handled the plant over the last ten years, but there may be some reasons as to why the people who they report to were keeping the operational budget in line knowing that this problem was serious was not wanting to move on it fearing for their jobs. From what I have learned living down, here retired from 2016, these are elected officials. So they can't be laid off or fired unlike a contractual job operation where performance, operational study analysis, performance reviews, amortization schedules, planning stages, and case studies are required by the plant manager and supervisors.

So as things move forward hopefully they will start moving things forward to get the grants\etc. needed to help work on the plant. What I am afraid of is that since the commissioners that handle the budget have not been informed or have been aware of this problems for many years, they have the total power to authorize increases in water usage with a justifiable reason and their political over sight will probably win in court. Buy the same token the law will dictate whether we can have the plant operate as a private entity because it may be able to be proven that the county failed to maintain standards, or this option would be too costly for the county.

Let us hope that the perseverance of getting the facts out will bring about the proper outcome without a political shuffling under the rug, "OK we fixed the plant, your water is good, the distribution system is being flushed and maintained so we have to keep this up so there will be an exorbitant yearly increase in water bill." This so they can make up the money that was supposed to be used on the water was used for projects of less priorities by those of greater political influence and overlooked the grants that should have been applied for.

If you were not to have a job because you could not keep the numbers in line you would do the same thing. They have to have a job and feed their families also. So hopefully some people will show true cost, and possibly a review of the history as to why the plant was allowed to deteriorate, and what the real cost will be by vetting more than one contractor of projected costs over a five year period after plant construction with a model by which another plant has been upgraded with the same capacity and environmental conditions and resources.

Remember there are other priorities needed in funding the county so it is good that this is now moving to the fore front. It is good that this problem is being addressed.

There needs to be an organized group to show up for meetings and there needs to be firm consideration to remove Mr. Mize from his position and a conversation about investigation into the funds held in escrow to current date needs to be reported to customers. It was reported late 2016 or early 2017 that SGWASA rates are expected to increase significantly. It appears that there is more burden on the water source than this area can handle. And yet with the number of influx this won't stop the madness. People desiring to move will be unable to sell their homes. They are setting up this community for failure.

Greg Bates – 2/19/2018 -- Northside

I don't have a dog in this fight as SGWASA does not provide my water. However, since Butner has chosen to go down the same road as Raleigh and Wake County, approving every request to build more houses on smaller lots knowing that there is not enough water for them then it is only a matter of time before my well either goes dry or is adversely affected by all of the construction. I have often said to some former elected officials that SGWASA is the most powerful entity in Granville County. Yet, we as citizens have no control as to who sits on the board or who is the day to day manager. Yes, there are representatives from the county, Butner, Stem and Creedmoor. When was the last time all four of them agreed on anything? The time to replace SGWASA management is long over due as is the time to replace long sitting members of city council and county commissioners. elected officials should have term limits as to how many terms they can serve. If you want change then clean house and get someone that will do what it takes to fix the problems!!
